On June 5, 2026, at approximately 8:02 PM, a traffic collision involving a black Porsche SUV and a black Chevrolet pickup truck occurred on southbound Interstate 5 near SeaWorld in Tecolote. The black pickup truck reported being hit from behind at high speeds, resulting in both vehicles ending up in the center divide and blocking the number one lane. An ambulance was requested for the scene, and it was reported that two children were in the other vehicle. Officers conducted traffic breaks to manage the flow of traffic, and the fire department occupied the number one lane. One vehicle was determined to be undriveable, and a tow truck was required. All lanes were reopened by 8:49 PM.
