On June 7, 2026, a traffic collision involving a motorcycle occurred on State Route 178 at the mouth of the canyon. The Fire Department responded and reported that the motorcycle was in the intersection of the roadway. Although an ambulance was initially requested, the CHP updated the status to a collision with no injuries. A tow truck was initially requested but later canceled as the involved parties used their own towing service.
