On July 2, 2026, a vehicle went off the roadway and down an embankment near a concrete wall, where it was subsequently reported as smoking. Authorities, including the Santa Barbara Police Department, worked to shut down the on-ramp to manage the scene. The incident occurred around 10:00 PM, and lanes were reopened shortly after. Bob Holzer Towing was requested for vehicle recovery.
