On July 2, 2026, at approximately 1:00 PM, a solo vehicle traffic collision occurred on southbound Interstate 5 at 17th Street. Two sedans were initially reported as blocking the third lane. It was later determined that the other vehicles stopped at the scene were Good Samaritans. Freeway Service Patrol responded to the scene to clean up an oil spill, which required traffic to be stopped in two right lanes.
