On June 22, 2026, at approximately 4:32 AM, a traffic collision involving a grey Jeep and a black Nissan Altima occurred on Interstate 5 North, just north of Alicia. A black Nissan Altima was blocking the number one lane, while the grey Jeep was located on the right shoulder. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene. CHP officers implemented a traffic break to manage the flow of traffic. The fire department responded to investigate reports of smoke, but it confirmed the vehicle was steaming, not smoking. Both vehicles sustained damage and were towed from the scene. Lanes 2 through 5 were reopened for traffic by 4:54 AM.
