On June 23, 2026, at approximately 6:04 AM, a red Tesla was involved in a single-vehicle collision with the center divide at the intersection of SR-163 South and Interstate 805. The vehicle's airbags deployed and it was positioned in the fast lane and lane 4, blocking multiple lanes of traffic. While an ambulance was requested, a gray vehicle was reported leaving the scene. All lanes were briefly blocked before officials coned off the area, reopening three of the four lanes by 6:16 AM. A tow truck from USA Tow was dispatched to the scene.
