On June 16, 2026, a hit-and-run occurred on eastbound Highway 98. A suspect vehicle, described as a car hauler carrying vehicles, driven by a male in his 30s, allegedly hit a vehicle while merging back into a lane after passing. The reporting party, who was in a blue "Hurricane Express" truck, pulled over on the right shoulder near KOA and Crestwood Summit signs. The incident was closed by the CHP on the same evening.
