On June 21, 2026, at approximately 3:01 PM, a blue Toyota RAV4 was involved in a hit-and-run accident on Interstate 5 South, just north of Gene Autry Way. The vehicle collided with an unknown additional vehicle and the center divide, coming to a stop in the center divide. The accident blocked the middle lanes and the number one lane, as well as the carpool lane due to fire department activity. Despite initial witness reports of possible injuries, the incident was reported as having no injuries. A flatbed tow truck from Best Tow was requested and arrived on the scene to clear the vehicle.
